What's Up With Traffic Lights & Mr. Right ?

Call it silly but, I often receive a pretty cool message from watching traffic lights. Red and green are obvious messages of stop and go. Although some travelers don"t take heed and cause problems for themselves and everyone else around them.

The yellow light on the other hand doesn't always get the respect it deserves. I often race right through it when I see the green light making its transition from yellow to red. There's something about playing beat-the-clock when that yellow light is on. If you are like me we tend to want to keep driving without any interruptions.

So, why don't the lights just change from green to red and back again without bringing yellow into the picture? I figure that there are probably many reasons none of which I can give you from an engineers point of view but, here's what jumps out at me.

  • I believe this particular sequence provides an easy transition for travelers. Pedestrians experience the yellow flashing light as a reminder to hurry and cross the street before the light changes.
Here's where Traffic lights and YOUR Mr. Right cross paths

When it comes to relationships and attracting the "right one" yielding proves to play a pretty major role in the big scheme of things. You see, to yield is another way of saying take time for reflection before proceeding forward.
Instead of going with the urge to become involved with another person right away... RESIST.

Yield also says that you love yourself enough to take the time you need to regroup, recoup, and refocus. Honestly, you should not give anyone your time in space to get what you need to succeed.
Here's what happens when you do, you rob yourself of an opportunity to position yourself for a
"true love" experience. When this happens you set yourself up for failure and the dreaded "s" word, SETTLING... for the next best thing.

Thanks for taking the time to respond

Love-Changing Success Stories & Ah- Ha Moments
Anonymous said, regarding a popular blog post (Here's An Observation) I appreciate your insight Amanda. So powerful. Too many of us go through life this way - used to the way things are and have always been. Awareness can be the first step to making a positive change. The phrase "even though my fingers were curled in an uncomfortable position and the weight of the bag added to unnecessary stress" really spoke to me and reminded me of how we will endure (even to the point of pain or discomfort) for the sake of a relationship. It can be different. It can be better...if we just put down the bag!
